Hamilton comes to the West End
There’s a lot of buzz around the new musical Hamilton which swept the Tony Awards this week winning a whooping 11 awards, the soundtrack of the show is set to make history by entering the Top 10 in the Billboard charts and it has captivated audiences across the pond such as Beyonce and Barack Obama.
In October 2017 it will transfer to London’s West End, the hip-hop musical is about one of America’s founding fathers Alexander Hamilton. The show features music from Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar as well as music from theatrical composters Gilbert and Sullivan and Stephen Sondheim.
Cameron Mackintosh, theatre producer who brought Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and Cats to the West End Stage, is unsure of the success Hamilton will bring with such American roots at its heart.
Hamilton will open at the Victoria Palace Theatre, former home to long-running musical smash-hit Billy Elliot. No London Theatre coach packages are on sale yet for Hamilton, but be sure to watch this space…
