Happy 90th Birthday to the Queen!
Today marks a very special royal occasion as our longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II officially turns ninety. This milestone means she is the first British monarch ever to rule in their nineties with the closest behind her Queen Victoria who lived to an age of 82.
The Queen will be celebrating her Birthday today at Windsor Castle surrounded by her family. The Castle has become a home from home for the Queen who visits almost every weekend, she also lived there for five years during the Blitz of World War II.
Celebrations will continue over the coming month with the Queen’s official birthday being celebrated in June with a series of events. These include the annual Trooping the Colour, a street party along the Mall (ticket only) in addition to a special 90 minute show at Windsor celebrating the Queen’s life through dance, acting and use of horses. The show is only on for a limited number of performances and the Queen will be in attendance on the final night.
